I just love the month of December and the lead-up to Christmas. Weekends are fully booked with lunches and parties, the weather is stunning, and everyone starts to relax into holiday mode. The atmosphere is electric and you can’t help but feel happy and excited.
.
When I was a kid, December would always drag sooo sloooowly, as I anxiously waited for Christmas and the school holidays to finally arrive. I was always an impatient child (though not much has changed as an adult). Each year, my grandma would give my brother and I a chocolate advent calendar, and every day I would look forward to opening the little window and inhaling the treat inside. It took all of my willpower not to eat them all at once, but luckily my brother didn’t eat chocolate and I got to eat his too.
.
The yearly advent calendars stopped when I left home aged 20, but I always missed the ritual of my daily piece of chocolate. Regular old chocolate that didn’t come from behind a cardboard window just wasn’t the same, you know?
.
The little old advent calendar has gotten a lot fancier these days. I felt like a little kid again when I got this in the mail from ASOS – instead of chocolate, there’s a different beauty product to open up each day. There are so many great goodies, including products from Nude by Nature, Burt’s Bees, Batiste, Philosophy and ModelCo.
.
What better way to make December even more fun!
